Ireland provides €55 million to Ukraine, €25 million to follow in few weeks

Taoiseach Micheal Martin has called the latest Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure a war crime.
At least ten people were killed, and 70% of Kyiv residents lost power.
He made the remarks in Paris after meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the lyse Palace.

PARIS, France - Taoiseach Micheal Martin has called the latest Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure a war crime.

The Irish leader made the remarks in Paris after meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the lyse Palace.

Martin described the situation in Ukraine as "truly shocking."

"We discussed a range of issues," he told reporters, "the appalling, horrific attacks on the people of Ukraine over the last few weeks up to today, as well as attacks on critical infrastructure, energy, and the terrorization of civilians within Ukraine." Clearly, to make life more uninhabitable for Ukrainians. It's shocking, and in terms of the singular focus on people, it represents a war crime, in our opinion."

The Taoiseach described his meeting with Macron as "constructive," stating that they discussed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Ukraine and the broader geopolitical situation.

Martin reiterated Ireland's intention to provide Ukrainian soldiers with military training in de-mining.

The Taoiseach stated that Ireland has already provided 55 million to Ukraine and that the Government decided a few weeks ago to increase that amount by another 25 million.

When asked about comments by a senior Ukrainian official that the country would welcome lethal military aid from Ireland, Martin stated that Ukraine understood Ireland's military neutrality.

"To be honest, we don't have a lot of military hardware," he said.
