BERLIN, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Frenchman Kingsley Coman has extended his current contract after putting pen to paper on a four-year extension, the German giants announced in an official statement on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old winger joined his teammates Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich, who also committed their future to the German record champions this season.
"I am very happy because FC Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world and I know that we still have a lot of opportunities and big goals here," said Coman. "I have been with the club since 2015 and it feels like a big family. Everything is perfect here. My best years as a footballer are still ahead of me and I am glad I will be spending them at Bayern."
The France international joined Bayern from Juventus on loan in 2015 before he penned a permanent contract in 2017, stipulated until June 2023. He made history with Bayern when he scored the decisive 1-0 goal in the 2020 UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint Germain. Coman made over 217 appearances across all competitions and provided 46 goals and 52 assists in Bayern's outfit.
"Clubs around the world are looking for players with the skills of Kingsley Coman. This contract extension is another example of how attractive our club is, on an international top level. Kingsley fully identifies with FC Bayern, he has found his sporting home here," Bayern chairman Oliver Kahn said.
The "Bavarians" sit currently atop the Bundesliga standings with a six-point advantage and will face sixth-placed Cologne in the 19th round on Saturday.
